March 9th – the final layer of the new infiltration gallery was added – 16 tons of sand. The water flowing through the sand is causing the coloration of the water. It is recommended that you use well or store bought drinking water during this time. Water users are welcome to get drinking water from the Gilroy’s well hydrant at 68 Camino del Medio. (The well hydrant is in the drive way to the right of the latilla gate.)

February 20th – Important Notice: This week service on the Domestic Water system begins. We are upgrading the silt filled infiltrations gallery with clean gravel. Infiltration gallery need an occasional clean-out to provide clean and safe water to our users. Thanks to a grant from LOR foundation, we have the funding to carry out the project. We will try to keep the water tank full during the operation; but, there could be an occasional loss of water during this operation. We thank you for your understanding and cooperation and look forward to the system’s upgrade.

New Water Operator for the San Cristobal MDWCA! Jim Gilroy, after 12 years of service as the Valley’s Water Operator, is stepping down. We are fortunate to have an energetic and competent resident to serve as the SCMDWCA’s Water Operator. His name is Carey Smith and he resides on Camino del Medio across from Fabi Romero’s home. Carey has worked with Jim and the domestic system over the last year as an intern and has already made a number of improvements to the system. His Coast Guard background as an electrician and all around “problem solver” brings new insights and solutions to our aging water system. We are fortunate to have his service and expertise!
